Dentists: Do this to Get More Google Reviews for your Practice

Jun 19, 2024

Did you know that over 80% of patients search online before they visit a dental office? Almost everyone checks Google reviews after their visit to assess the quality of the experience. Interestingly, these reviews often focus more on the overall experience than on the quality of care itself.

First, it's crucial to run on time. Patients value punctuality as it demonstrates respect for their time and reinforces your commitment to them. If you schedule an appointment for 8:00 AM, be ready to see the patient at 8:00 AM, not 8:05 or later. While occasional delays are inevitable, it's important to inform the patient if you're running late. Offer them the option to come later or wait with a cup of coffee. Consistent delays can frustrate patients, leading them to seek other providers. This principle applies not only to doctors but also to hygienists and other staff members. Ensuring that your entire team values punctuality can significantly enhance the patient experience.

Second, focus on not causing pain. This might seem straightforward, but it's a major concern for patients. The primary reason people avoid dental visits is fear of pain. By premedicating with ibuprofen or Tylenol, using gentle techniques, and taking your time, you can minimize discomfort. For example, using a gentle injection technique with topical anesthetics or sedating patients before procedures can greatly reduce their pain. Employing long-acting anesthetics like Marcaine ensures patients remain numb for hours after treatment, reducing postoperative discomfort. Providing clear dosing schedules and contact information for follow-up questions can further alleviate anxiety and pain.

The third tip is to be honest with your patients. Honesty might seem simple, but it's fundamental to building trust. An educated patient is your best consumer. Sharing all necessary information, including pros and cons, costs, risks, and benefits, allows patients to make informed decisions about their treatment. Sometimes, patients request procedures they’ve seen on TV, like immediate implants after extraction. It's essential to explain the potential risks and complications honestly. While some dentists fear rejection if they reveal all the details, transparency is key to establishing trust. Honest communication removes the burden of decision-making from you and places it on the patient, empowering them to choose the best course of action.

In summary, to generate more positive Google reviews and enhance patient satisfaction, remember these three tips: run on time, avoid causing pain, and be honest with your patients. Implementing these strategies will not only improve the patient experience but also foster a more successful and trustworthy practice. Thank you for your dedication to providing exceptional care and for striving to make every patient feel valued and respected.
